California Republican Party & Senate GOP Leader Brian Jones Supporting Strickland
HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA – Tony Strickland’s campaign to succeed Janet Nguyen for Senate District 36 today announced the endorsements of the California Republican Party and Senate GOP Leader Brian Jones.
“Tony Strickland has consistently championed law enforcement, government accountability, and fiscal responsibility throughout his service in the Assembly, Senate, and Huntington Beach City Council,” commented Senate GOP Leader Brian Jones. “As a pragmatic leader, he works across the aisle to deliver common-sense solutions. I’m thrilled to welcome Tony’s leadership and expertise back to Sacramento.”
“I’ve known Tony Strickland for more than twenty years,” said CRP Chairwoman Jessica Patterson. “No one is going to work harder to win this seat, and no one is going to work harder to fight for California. The California Republican Party is proud to support Tony Strickland for State Senate.”
As Huntington Beach Mayor and Councilmember, Tony Strickland has been consistently pushing major reforms to make his city a better place to live. In just the past two years, Huntington Beach has made significant investments in law enforcement to better protect the community. And the City’s efforts to reduce homelessness has resulted in a drop of more than 60%.
“I’m proud of what our campaign is building. Bringing together the California Republican Party and Senate Leader Brian Jones shows our side is united and ready to do what it takes to win,” added Tony Strickland.
With former Senator Janet Nguyen recently being sworn in for her seat on the Orange County Board of Supervisors, a Special Election Primary has been called for February 25, 2025. A District with a 3.1% GOP Voter Registration advantage, the 36th Senate District takes in portions of Los Angeles County, parts of northwest Orange County, and all of coastal Orange County. In the November 2024 Election, President Trump won SD36 by 4% and Steve Garvey carried it by 6.4%.
Tony Strickland and his wife Carla live in Huntington Beach. He has two children, “Tiny” Tony and Ruby, and two step-children, Graeme and Jameson.
