Announces Support From Congressional Members Steel and Kim, Candidate Baugh
HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA – Just a week after announcing his candidacy, Tony Strickland’s campaign for State Senate District 36 today announced endorsements from U.S. Representatives Michelle Steel (CA-45) and Young Kim (CA-40), as well as from Congressional Candidate, and former OCGOP Chairman, Scott Baugh.
“Tony Strickland knows how to fight, and he knows how to deliver victories for conservatives. I couldn’t think of a better leader to meet the moment and fight to save California. I’m proud to support Tony Strickland for Senate,” said Scott Baugh.
“I’ve known Tony for close to 30 years,” added Congresswoman Michelle Steel. “Throughout his career, Tony has proven that he is someone conservatives can trust to fight for us.”
As Huntington Beach Mayor and Councilmember, Tony successfully fought to increase funding for law enforcement, dramatically reduced homelessness, authored California’s first Voter ID initiative, fought to empower parents, and closed a $7 million budget deficit without raising taxes. A former State Assemblymember and State Senator, Tony earned a reputation as a conservative fighter, earning a lifetime A-Rating from the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association.
Tony Strickland lives in Huntington Beach with his wife Carla, a 30-year Huntington Beach resident. He has two children, “Tiny” Tony and Ruby, and two step-children, Graeme and Jameson.
With Janet Nguyen a heavy favorite to win a seat on the Orange County Board of Supervisors, Senate District 36 is likely to see a Special Election held in Spring 2025 to fill her vacancy.
